Author Rank – The New Trust Evaluation Tool
Previously, I covered how you can build Google Authorshipand influence online presence, today we will see how Google Authorship and other important factors will help your to get Author Rank .
Author Rank, previously known as Agent Rank , is a recent addition to other ranking factors like Page Rank (PR) and Moz Rank (MR).
What is Author Rank Basically?
Author Rank is a new trust evaluation tool based on content engagement, author’s resourcefulness, authenticity and trust vote. Here is a bit of explanation from Google:
“The name of the writer can be used to influence the ranking of web search results by indicating the writer responsible for a particular content piece.
Assuming that a given writer has a high reputational score, representing an established reputation for authoring valuable content, and then additional content authored and signed by that writer will be promoted relative to unsigned content or content from less reputable writers in search results.”
The Author Rank will help to rank authentic content in a better way. In short, Page Rank (PR) and Author Rank (AR) will go hand-in-hand to determine search engine rankings. Of course, Author Rank is not yet implemented but it always pays to be prepared in advance .
I found a wonderful image on seomoz.org explaining Author Rank & its impact on search engine results:
Caution
You may not feel the need to implement steps to ensure higher Author Rank now but once the algorithm is rolled out in the near future, it will impact your current SERP. While Author Rank implementation won’t be a penalty, it will surely seem like one for them who were not prepared in advance.
Few More Tips Be regular on Google+. Add more people in your Circles. Post updates regularly. Do not forget to claim authorship for your content. Specialize in a niche and write about it on top authority blogs.
Psssst….cut down the hours you spend on other social networking sites and focus a lot on G+. Too bad if you don’t have G+ profile yet!
